Alternative Energy
Geothermal?
There are two types of “geothermal": the classic one, relative to the exploitation of geologic or vulcanologic anomalies and that to " low entalpia" , relative to the exploitation of the subsoil like thermal tank from which to extract heat during the winter season and from which to yield some during the summer season.
The first type of geothermal, regards the production of electric power (vd Lardarello) and thermal waters (Aqui Terme in Piemonte, Abano Terme in Province of Padova, Lazise and Caldiero in Prov di Veorna, Ferrara in Emilia etc.) used for heating.
Geothermal to low entalpy is that " geothermal with which any building, in any place of the earth, can heat or refresh , instead of using the classic boiler during the winter and the air-conditioning in the summer .
For our housess we use the lowland entalpy.
Can it be used everywhere?
Yes, it can. The system is applicable in any type of subsoil, and in any regions of Italy… at the sea, in the mountain, plain, hill, near the lake, city, campaign…
and if there is a stratum?
In presence of a stratum, the system is more efficient.. Moreover the water resource is not altered, because it is only of a heat exchange.
But then can it be used in order to heat any houses?
No. In reality the limit of the technology resides in the fact that is economically attractive only in presence of low temperature terminals.
What are the low temperature terminals?
The heating systems are constituted by two parts: heating generatores , suh as: traditional gas , diesel oil, GPL boilers, geothermal, biomasses boilers, etc and the teminals that is the classics radiators, or the ventil convectors, floor, wall, ceiling systems etc. Usually the radiators work with hight temperatures of about 65-70°C and they are defined high temperature teminals.
The floor, wall and celing radiating panels systems work at about 30-35°C and therefore they are defined low temperature terminals". The ventil convectors can work to variable temperatures.
I want to build a new house, and I would like to instal a geothermal system. Have I to preview the installatio of a little boiler ?
No. The geothermal system is sufficient to guarantee all necessary energy.
How much does my geothermal system coast and how much does it consume?
The cost depends on how much heating the building needs, and on the type of subsoil from which heat is captured. However, for a room of 150 mq the cost is about 17.000 €.
Here follows the calculation of a bill for a 4-5 family persons for the warm water production for heating, warm water for sanitary uses, and cold water for the summery cooling.
Example (house of 200 mq 4 persons heating and conditioning)

Types of heating pumps?
Direct evaporation :
The exchangers lay into diggings, that, then, will be closed. Garden of medium dimensions are requested, it should be about the double of the sqare meters of the house In the world the horizontal applications represent more han a half of the total and are particularly efficient at ours latitudes. The tubes lay at a deep of about 2 mt.
Geothermal probe or Sol circuit :
Vertical solution: the exchangers are inserted in perforations, that then are sealed with specific products to preserve water-bearing stratums and to maximize the heat exchange. It is spoken in this case of geothermal probes. We remember that in some cases the perforations can catch up the 100 mt.
In groundwater table:
Solution stratum water : the circuit is opened; it comes captured stratum water from a sink and injected into another one, after being passed through the heat pump. It is a solution that today is used in the majority of the cases for the low costs of
